Global Tractor Markets: Country Rankings by Sales Growth and Contraction

Global tractor markets showed mixed performance in 2025, with growth concentrated in a limited number of countries while several key markets recorded declines. The data also highlights significant differences between short-term dynamics and long-term trends across regions.

Total tractor sales across the Top 20 markets reached 2.02 million units in 2025, up from 1.94 million units in the previous year. Despite this overall increase, the global market showed a highly uneven performance, with growth largely driven by a single country.

India consolidated its position as the world’s largest tractor market, expanding by 19.8% year-over-year to more than 1.09 million units. This increase alone accounted for the bulk of global growth.

In contrast, several major markets recorded declines. China, the second-largest market, fell by 11.1%, while the United States declined 9.9%. Significant contractions were also recorded in Turkey (-35.5%) and Russia (-31.0%), along with double-digit declines in key European markets such as France (-14.7%), Germany (-12.2%) and the United Kingdom (-14.2%).

This special report is part of Maquinac’s Global Tractor Markets coverage and is based on a comprehensive analysis of the 20 largest tractor markets worldwide, representing approximately 90% of global unit sales.

The 2025 data points to a structurally unbalanced global tractor market, where overall growth is sustained by strong demand in a limited number of countries, while most markets remain under pressure.

Beyond India, only a few markets posted notable gains, including Spain (+30.6%), Poland (+24.9%), South Africa (+19.0%) and Italy (+13.7%). However, these increases were not sufficient to offset widespread declines across larger and mid-sized markets.

This pattern suggests that global demand dynamics remain fragmented, with emerging and high-growth markets playing an increasingly important role in supporting overall volumes, while mature markets continue to face cyclical or structural challenges.

Outside the Top 20

The rankings in this report are based on an analysis of the world’s 20 largest tractor markets, which together account for approximately 90% of global unit sales.

Outside this group, some smaller markets reported stronger year-over-year growth, largely due to low base effects. For example, Portugal recorded sales of 3,466 units, up 63.4% compared to 2024.

Conclusion

The 2025 data confirms a highly uneven global tractor market, with overall growth driven by a limited number of countries while most markets remain under pressure. Short-term dynamics show strong but concentrated expansion, contrasted with widespread declines across several mature and mid-sized markets.

Over the longer term, growth appears more evenly distributed, led primarily by emerging markets, while several established markets continue to show structural contraction. This divergence highlights a gradual shift in global demand, with future growth increasingly dependent on a smaller group of high-growth countries.
