2025 was not an easy year worldwide for the tractor business (and agricultural machinery in general).
A large share of the most relevant markets showed declining sales figures, with some cases reaching historic lows for the sector.
However, there were also cases of significant growth, such as India, which consolidated its global leadership in the segment with nearly 1.2 million tractors sold.
In this Special Report by Maquinac, we review the commercial results achieved in 2025 across the world’s leading tractor markets.
GERMANY. Closed the year with 25,711 registered tractors, a decline of -12.2% compared to 2024 (29,291 units). This marks the lowest level of the decade. The sector has now posted four consecutive years of declining sales, with a cumulative drop of -25.4% compared to the 2021 peak (34,472 units).
ARGENTINA. A total of 5,259 units were registered in 2025, representing a slight increase of +0.3% compared to 2024 (5,244 units).
AUSTRALIA. Registered 9,521 tractors in 2025, a contraction of -7.0% compared to the previous year (10,242 units). It was the lowest level of the past decade. The market has now declined for three consecutive years, accumulating a -46.2% drop compared to the 2022 peak (17,702 units).
BRAZIL. According to preliminary figures, 52,000 tractors were registered in 2025, marking a growth of +10.6% compared to 2024 (47,000 units).
CANADA. The new tractor market remained relatively stable in 2025. A total of 23,246 tractors were registered, with a marginal decline of -1.0% compared to the previous year (23,469 units).
CHINA. Based on preliminary data, 370,000 agricultural tractors were registered in 2025, an increase of +5.7% compared to 2024 (350,000 units).
CZECH REPUBLIC. A total of 1,674 tractors were registered in 2025, a sharp decline of -31.4% compared to 2024 (2,442 units). It was the lowest level of the decade, marking four consecutive years of falling sales.
FRANCE. Europe’s leading tractor market recorded 33,446 registered units, down -14.7% from 2024 (39,198 units). It was the lowest level of the past 10 years.
INDIA. The star of the year in the global tractor industry, posting a historic sales record of 1,195,287 units, including domestic sales (1,090,281 units) and exports (105,006 units). Sales grew +18.6% compared to 2024 (1,007,900 units).
IRELAND. One of the few European markets to show positive figures in 2025. A total of 2,067 new +13.8% tractors were registered, up +13.8% compared to 2024 (1,817 units).
ITALY. Delivered a positive surprise in Europe, with 17,573 tractors registered in 2025 and growth of +13.7% compared to the previous year (15,450 units). It broke a streak of three consecutive years of declining sales. In 2024, it had reported the worst drop in the past 72 years.
NETHERLANDS. During the past year, 2,188 tractors were registered, a decline of -13.6% compared to 2024 (2,531 units). It was the lowest annual figure since official tractor registration records began in the country (2009).
POLAND. Tractor registrations increased by +24.8% in 2025, with 10,656 units registered, reversing the -17.2% decline reported in 2024.
RUSSIA. According to preliminary figures, the sector recorded a -31% decline in tractor sales compared to 2024.
SPAIN. It was the brightest performer in the European tractor market, with 11,006 units registered in 2025 and year-on-year growth of +21.8%. Spain had already been one of the most dynamic markets in 2024, with a +13.4% increase compared to 2023.
SWITZERLAND. A total of 1,624 agricultural tractors were registered, representing a +3.0% increase compared to 2024 (1,576 units). However, the figure remains 20.2% below the annual average of the past decade (2,035 units).
TURKEY. A sharp drop in tractor sales was reported (although official data is not yet available). Local production totaled 42,374 units, down -41% compared to 2024. It was the lowest level of the past four years.
UNITED KINGDOM. Only 8,791 units were registered in 2025, a drop of -14.2% compared to 2024 (10,241 units). It was the lowest level since official records began in the 1960s.
UNITED STATES. A total of 195,857 units were registered in 2025, a contraction of -9.9% compared to 2024 (217,279 units). It was the lowest level of the past decade. The sector has accumulated a -38.4% decline compared to the 2021 record (317,944 units).
