India consolidated its position above the one-million-unit threshold
Including exports, total tractor sales reached 1,195,287 units in 2025, compared with 1,007,900 units in 2024, representing an 18.6% year-over-year increase.
India has remained above the one-million-unit mark in combined domestic and export sales throughout the current decade.
The market first surpassed that threshold in 2021, with total sales reaching 1,028,625 units. Volumes remained above one million units in 2022 (1,043,911 units), 2023 (1,011,697 units) and 2024 (1,007,900 units), before reaching a new record in 2025.
The scale of the Indian market remains unmatched globally. Average daily sales in 2025 exceeded 3,200 tractors per day, equivalent to the annual market volume of several mid-sized European countries.
Government incentives and favorable agricultural conditions supported demand
India’s tractor market continued to outperform most global markets despite weaker conditions across several major agricultural economies.
The strong performance was supported by government incentive programs, financing availability and favorable weather conditions that contributed to stronger agricultural production during the year.
The Indian market also reflects the country’s unique farm structure, where compact and medium-horsepower tractors dominate demand across millions of small and mid-sized farming operations.
Production also reached a historic high
Alongside record domestic sales, India also posted an all-time high in tractor production.
Total output reached 1,151,273 units in 2025, up 17.2% from 982,146 units produced in 2024.
The result surpassed the previous production record set in 2021, when Indian factories assembled 1,065,280 tractors.
