India Tractor Sales Continue Strong Momentum

India’s tractor market maintained strong growth in February, with sales reaching 89,418 units, up 36.4% year over year. The result marks the second-highest February volume in the past nine years and reinforces expectations of another record year for the world’s largest tractor market.

India’s tractor market continues to show strong momentum.

In February, total tractor sales reached 89,418 units, representing a 36.4% increase year over year compared with the same month in 2025.

The result marks the second-highest February total in the past nine years, surpassed only by the 95,674 units recorded in February 2021.

Key figures

  • February 2026 sales: 89,418 units
  • Year-over-year growth: +36.4%
  • Second-highest February in nine years
  • Record for the month: 95,674 units (February 2021)

Brand performance

The strong market expansion also boosted sales among the leading tractor manufacturers operating in India.

Mahindra remained the market leader, selling 34,133 units in February, a 33.7% increase compared with 25,527 units in February 2025.

The company accounted for 38.2% of total tractor sales, including:

  • 32,153 units sold in the domestic market
  • 1,647 units exported

Sonalika, another major player in the segment, reported 12,890 units sold during the month, representing the highest February sales volume in the company’s history.

Toward another record year?

If the trend observed in the first two months of the year continues, India could reach a new all-time record for tractor sales in 2026, following the 1,195,287 units sold in 2025.

The year started strongly:

  • January 2026: 113,210 units (+22.6% year over year)
  • February 2026: 89,418 units (+36.4% year over year)

The acceleration in February suggests sustained demand in the world’s largest tractor market, potentially setting the stage for another record year in the global agricultural machinery industry.
