John Deere designs its future machines along with BMW

Is working on the aesthetics of its new products together with Designworks, the industrial design studio of the German automaker.

John Deere works in its upcoming machines design along with Designworks, the industrial innovation studio of BMW.

Although the collaboration between the two companies has been going on for several years, it has been accentuated in the recent seasons.

As result of the teamwork, the couple John Deere-BMW has already earned a few awards.

For example, they won two prizes for the design of the 8R tractor: the prestigious Red Dot and iF.

In parallel to luxury cars and motorcycles, BMW also has industrial design among its businesses.

This began with the purchase of Designworks, an studio created in the 70’s, in California (EE.UU).

Designworks destinates half of its work to the automotive industry (including BMW) and the other half goes to diverse industrial sectors.

The collaboration with John Deere began with construction equipment and later went extended to agricultural machines and green space equipment.

Currently, the Strategic Design Council of John Deere is the bridge between Designworks and the company.

Looking ahead, the work aims to achieve that the «industrial design language» created between the company and BMW, get applied in the aesthetics of the upcoming products of John Deere, from sprayers to graders.
