Nordson Acquires CapstanAG to Strengthen Precision Spraying Portfolio
Nordson has acquired U.S.-based startup CapstanAG, a specialist in pulse-width modulation (PWM) technology for agricultural spraying applications. The deal expands Nordson’s presence in Precision Agriculture and strengthens its position in the rapidly growing market for advanced spraying systems.

The acquisition builds on Nordson’s 2023 purchase of Italian precision farming specialist Arag and further broadens the company’s capabilities in crop application technologies.
PWM Technology for Uniform Application
CapstanAG is best known for its PinPoint PWM system, which uses high-speed solenoid valves to precisely control spray output.
The technology enables pulsed spraying while maintaining a consistent application rate across the field, even when sprayer speed changes or terrain conditions vary. This allows operators to improve application accuracy and reduce variability during field operations.

Building on the Arag Acquisition
Nordson entered the agricultural technology market more aggressively in 2023 with the acquisition of Arag, a leading Italian supplier of components and control systems for precision agriculture.
By integrating CapstanAG’s PWM expertise with Arag’s global product portfolio, Nordson aims to strengthen its offering in precision spraying, a segment experiencing increasing adoption worldwide as growers seek greater efficiency and input optimization.
Executive Comments
“The acquisition of CapstanAG represents a strategic step in our growth journey,” said Daniel Neves, Vice President of Precision Agriculture at Nordson.
Jeff Grimm, Chief Operating Officer of CapstanAG, noted that combining CapstanAG and Arag will provide customers and employees with access to a broader global infrastructure and support network.
Market Context
PWM spraying systems are becoming increasingly important in modern crop production because they allow operators to maintain precise application rates while varying travel speeds. The technology supports more accurate pesticide and fertilizer applications, helping growers improve efficiency and reduce input waste.
With CapstanAG and Arag now under the same corporate structure, Nordson is positioning itself as a more significant supplier of precision spraying and application technologies for agricultural markets worldwide.
