Tires world leaders are leaving Europe?

Major brands are closing plants in Europe and reorganizing their global manufacturing sites.

The international tire production map is mutating because of the strategic decisions of global brands.

Continental recently announced that it will close its Aachen (Germany) plant as part of an «unprecedented transformation process».

Continental’s decision is in line with the exodus from French territory started by other large companies.

So far, Goodyear in Amiens (Somme), Bridgestone in Béthune (Pas-de-Calais), and Michelin in La Roche-sur-Yon (Vendée) have been closed.

But, where is tire production moving to?

Here’s a hint: of all the replacement tires sold annually in Europe, 81% come from outside the continent, especially from China and India.

Particularly in India, BKT already has 4 factories installed.
