A total of 195,857 units were registered, the lowest level of the past decade. The segment has now dropped -38.4% compared to the 2021 record (317,944 units).

The U.S. tractor market closed 2025 in negative territory for the fourth consecutive year.
During the year, 195,857 units were registered, representing a -9.9% decline compared to 2024 (217,279 units).
The figures come from the monthly report released by the Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM), the entity representing machinery manufacturers in the United States.
According to the report, tractor registrations in 2025 marked the lowest level of the past decade and the fourth straight year of declining sales.
The 195,857 units reported in 2025 represent a cumulative drop of -38.4% compared to the all-time record reached in 2021 (317,944 units).

Power Segments
When broken down by horsepower range, the steepest year-over-year declines were recorded in the higher-capacity tractor segments.
In the 4WD category, 2,543 units were registered, a sharp -41.6% drop compared to 2024 registrations (4,357 units).
In the over-100 HP segment, 17,648 units were registered, representing a -22.6% decrease from the previous year (22,809 units).
At the other end of the spectrum, tractors between 40 and 100 HP totaled 52,812 units in 2025, down -4.0% year-over-year (55,012 units in 2024).
Smaller tractors (under 40 HP) also closed the year in negative territory, with 122,854 units registered, marking a -9.1% decline compared to 2024 (135,101 units).
Combines
The downturn was even more pronounced in the self-propelled combine harvester market. In 2025, only 3,576 units were registered in the United States, a -35.6% drop compared to the previous year (5,556 units).
This sharp contraction is hitting the business hard, as it not only involves fewer new machine sales but also serious difficulties in moving used equipment.
